Description:
Secunia Research has discovered a vulnerability in Rising Antivirus, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in UNACEV2.DLL when extracting an ACE archive containing a file with an overly long filename. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow when a user scans a specially crafted ACE archive.

The vulnerability is related to:
SA16479

Successful exploitation allows arbitrary code execution when a malicious ACE archive is scanned.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in Rising Antivirus 2006 version 18.24.10, 18.25.30, 18.25.40, and 18.27.21. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 18.29.12 or later via online update.
