CVE-2007-1021

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in CodeAvalanche News, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "password" parameter in CANews/admin/default.asp is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Note: This can be exploited to access the administration section and allow an attacker to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which is then executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when malicious data is viewed.

2) Input passed to the "CAT_ID" parameter in inc_listnews.asp is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.2. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
