Description:
Luigi Auriemma has reported a vulnerability in PunkBuster, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the web administration interface (WebTool) within the handling of the "webkey" parameter in the URL. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow via a specially crafted HTTP request that contains an overly long value in the "webkey" parameter.

Successful exploitation requires that WebTool has been enabled via the "pb_sv_httpPort" setting.

The vulnerability has been reported in PunkBuster for server versions prior to 1.229.

Solution:
Update to version 1.229 or later.
