Description

Two vulnerabilities have been discovered in DSChat, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks and compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Input passed to the "ctext" parameter in send.php isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious chat message is viewed.

2) Input passed to the "Nickname" field when entering a chat isn't properly sanitised before being used to create a file in the "users" directory. This can e.g. be exploited to create a malicious PHP script with arbitrary content.

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 1.0. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
