|
|
Description: trueend5 has reported some vulnerabilities and weaknesses in Geeklog, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose system information, and conduct cross-site scripting and SQL injection attacks.
1) Input passed to the "image" parameter in getimage.php isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
2) Input passed to the "loginname" parameter during login and unspecified input passed in the story submission isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
This can further be exploited to bypass the authentication process.
Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled (for the "loginname" parameter).
3) It is possible to disclose the full path to getimage.php and functions.php by accessing the scripts with invalid input.
The vulnerabilities and the weaknesses have been reported in version 1.4.0sr2. Prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to version 1.4.0sr3 or 1.3.11sr6.
