Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Mercur Messaging 2005, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
1) An error within the handling of messages with overly long subject field in the IMAP service can be exploit to crash the service via a specially crafted message.
2) An error within the SMTP service can cause an infinite loop when handling an email message with unknown originator and recipient addresses.
3) A boundary error within the SMTP server can be exploited to crash the service via certain name server queries.
4) An error within the handling of the TOP command in the POP3 service can be exploited to crash the service.
Solution: Apply Service Pack 4.
