Description

Luigi Auriemma has reported multiple vulnerabilities in UFO2000, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection attacks, cause a DoS (Denial of Service), or potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

1) A boundary error in the "recv_add_unit()" function in multiplay.cpp can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow on a client when adding a unit with an overly long name.

2) Errors within the handling of incoming data blocks in the "decode_stringmap()" function in server_transport.cpp can be exploited to crash the server.

3) Certain functions in multiplay.cpp fail to handle incoming data correctly, which can be exploited to crash a client or potentially execute arbitrary code by sending specially crafted data.

4) The game server does not filter certain user supplied input before using it in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in subversion revision 1057. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
