CVE-2006-3902

Description:
David "Aesthetico" Vieira-Kurz has discovered a vulnerability in phpFaber TopSites, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and SQL injection attacks.

Input passed to the "i_cat" parameter in index.php is not properly sanitised before it is used in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code. Since certain parts of the "i_cat" parameter are also included in the SQL error message, this can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 2.0.9. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
