Description

Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in Simplog, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting, script insertion, cross-site request forgery, and SQL injection attacks or bypass certain security restrictions.

1) Input passed to the "keyw" and "pid" parameters in archive.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of a vulnerable site.

2) Input passed to the "name", "url", "email", "key", "femail" and "fpass" parameters in user.php, the "url" parameter in news.php, and the "etitle", "body" and "man_tb" parameters in edit.php is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited by administrative users to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which is executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is viewed.

3) Input passed to the "pid" parameter in archive.php is not properly sanitised before being used in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

4) Input passed to the "cname" and "email" parameters in comments.php is not properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed.

5) The application allows users to perform certain actions via HTTP requests without performing any validity checks to verify the request. This can be exploited to e.g. change the administrators password when a logged-in administrator visits a malicious web page.

6) A vulnerability exists due to the improper authentication verification in comments.php. This can be exploited to edit or delete comments without any user credentials.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 0.9.3.2. Other versions may also be affected.
