Description:
Tavis Ormandy has reported a vulnerability in GNU Binutils, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the GNU assembler. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by tricking a user into assembling a specially crafted assembly file.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running GNU assembler.

Solution:
Update to version 2.17.
