Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Sun Solaris, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

1) An unspecified error in the default configuration of the Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) associated with the "File System Management" profile can be exploited to execute arbitrary commands with "root" privileges.

The vulnerability affects Sun Solaris 8 and 9 for both the SPARC and x86 platform.

2) An unspecified error exists in the "format" command. This allows a user, who has been granted the "File System Management" RBAC profile or similar, to write to device files with "root" privileges.

The vulnerability affects Sun Solaris 8 and 9 for both the SPARC and x86 platform.

3) A boundary error in the "format" command can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow. This allows a user, who has been granted the "File System Management" RBAC profile or similar, to execute arbitrary code with "root" privileges.

The vulnerability affects Sun Solaris 8, 9, and 10 for both the SPARC and x86 platform.
