CVE-2006-4706

Description:
imei addmimistrator has reported two vulnerabilities in MyBB, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and script insertion attacks.

1) Input passed via the "url" BBcode tag when posting isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when a link with the "javascript:" URI handler from a malicious post is followed.

Example:
[url]java& 115;cript://%0a%0[code];[/url]

2) Input passed via the URL path in admin/index.php isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

Example:
http://[host]/admin/index.php/[code]

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.1.7. Prior versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 1.1.8.
