Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in FreeBSD, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerabilities are caused due to integer overflow and signedness errors within the "i386_set_ldt()" system call, which can be exploited to cause a DoS.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in FreeBSD 5.2 through FreeBSD 5.5. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Restrict access to affected systems to trusted people only.
Provided and/or discovered by: One vulnerability has been reported by Adriano Lima and Rodrigo Rubira Branco, RISE Security.
CVE-2006-4172 and CVE-2006-4178 have been reported by anonymous persons to iDEFENSE.
