Secunia Research has discovered a vulnerability in CinePlayer, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in SonicDVDDashVRNav.dll and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by e.g. passing an overly long string to certain properties or methods provided by the SonicMediaPlayer.dll ActiveX control.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 3.2. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Set the kill-bit for the ActiveX control to prevent exploitation using this vector.
