Description: Kacper has discovered a vulnerability in Webmedia Explorer, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
Input passed to the "path_include" parameter in includes/core.lib.php is not properly verified before being used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local or external resources.
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 2.8.7. Other versions may also be affected.
Note: Successful exploitation requires that the application is incorrectly configured.
Solution: Activate mod_rewrite and ensure that your web server processes the ".htaccess" file correctly.
Provided and/or discovered by: Kacper
Changelog: 2006-10-27: Added CVE reference.
