CVE-2006-5328

Description:
Kevin Finisterre has reported a vulnerability in OpenBase, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to an error when invoking /Library/OpenBase/bin/gnutar, which allows to run gzip without an absolute filename. This allows execution of arbitrary code with "root" privileges.

The vulnerability is reported in version 9.1.5. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Reportedly, this has been fixed in the latest J2SE 5.0-compliant OpenBase JDBC driver.

Alternatively, remove the "setuid" flags from the OpenBase binaries.
