Description

Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Asterisk, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

1) An integer overflow exists within the "get_input()" function in chan_skinny.c. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by sending specially crafted packets to the Asterisk Skinny channel driver.

Successful exploitation may allow the execution of arbitrary code, but requires that "chan_skinny" is loaded.

2) Various unspecified errors within the handling of malformed SIP packets can be exploited to e.g. shut Asterisk down, open channels, fill up queues, log files, and the space for voicemail messages by sending specially crafted SIP packets.

The vulnerabilities are reported in Asterisk 1.0.x prior to 1.0.12 and in the 1.2.x branch prior to 1.2.13. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Update to version 1.0.12 or 1.2.13.
