Description: Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in Universal FTP, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
1) An error within the processing of the "STOR" and "PUT" commands can be exploited to crash the FTP service with a runtime error (invalid operation at current state) by sending e.g. two "STOR" commands in a row.
2) Passing a "*" character to e.g. the "MKD" FTP command crashes the FTP service with a runtime error (Path not found).
3) Passing a "|" character to e.g. the "MKD" FTP command crashes the FTP service with a runtime error (Bad file name or number).
4) Passing a couple of spaces or an overly long argument to the "MKD" FTP command crashes the FTP service with a runtime error (File not found).
None of the vulnerabilities requires a user to be authenticated.
5) An error within the processing of the "PORT" command can be exploited to crash the FTP service with a runtime error (invalid procedure call or argument) by passing e.g. "AA" to a "PORT" command.
The vulnerabilities are all confirmed in version 1.0.50 and vulnerability #1 is also confirmed in version 1.0.44. Other versions may also be affected.
