Description: Greg Linares has discovered a vulnerability in QK SMTP Server, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the handling of arguments passed to the "RCPT TO:" command. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based overflow by supplying an overly long argument to the vulnerable command.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 3.01. Prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: The vulnerability has been fixed in version 3.1 Beta.
Provided and/or discovered by: Greg Linares
Changelog: 2006-10-31: Added CVE reference.
