Description:
Ulf Harnhammar has reported some vulnerabilities in ELOG, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks and by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks, cause a DoS (Denial of Service), and potentially to compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Input passed to the "Type" parameter when adding a new entry and via the URL is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

2) Input passed to the "Category" parameter when adding a new category is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is viewed.

3) A format string error exists in the the "el_submit()" function in elogd.c in the handling of attachments. This can be exploited to crash the server and may allow execution of arbitrary code via an attachment with a specially crafted name.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 2.6.2-1. Other versions may also be affected.
