Description: Handrix has reported a vulnerability in Sun Java System Messenger Express, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
Input passed to the "error" parameter is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Example:
http://[host]/?user=&error=[code]
The vulnerability reportedly affects the following versions:
SPARC Platform:
* Sun Java System Messaging Server 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 (for Solaris 9 and Solaris 10)
x86 Platform:
* Sun Java System Messaging Server 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 (for Solaris 9 and Solaris 10)
Linux Platform:
* Sun Java System Messaging Server 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 (for RHEL 3 and RHEL 4)
Solution: Filter malicious characters and character sequences in a web proxy.
