CVE-2006-6379
CVE-2006-6917

Description:
Two vulnerabilities have been reported in BrightStor ARCserver Backup, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors in the Tape Engine service within the tapeeng.dll and tapeutil.dll libraries when handling certain RPC requests. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow via a specially crafted packet sent to the service (default port 6502/TCP).

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

Solution:
Apply fixes.
