| CVE reference: | CVE-2006-6380 CVE-2006-6381
|
|
Description: ajann has reported some vulnerabilities in Ultimate HelpDesk, which can be exploited by malicious users to disclose sensitive information or by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
1) Input passed to the "filename" parameter in getfile.asp is not properly verified before being used to access files. This can be exploited to disclose the content of arbitrary files via directory traversal attacks.
Successful exploitation requires valid user credentials.
2) Input passed to the "keyword" parameter in index.asp is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Solution: Update to version 3.5.7 or later.
Provided and/or discovered by: ajann
Changelog: 2006-12-11: Added CVE reference.
2008-07-07: Updated "Solution" section.
