Description:
Solar Eclipse has reported a vulnerability in OpenLDAP, which can be exploited by malicious people to potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the "krbv4_ldap_auth()" function in servers/slapd/kerberos.c and can be exploited to cause a stack based buffer overflow by sending a specially crafted bind request with more than 1250 bytes of credential data.

Successful exploitation may allow the execution of arbitrary code, but requires that OpenLDAP is compiled with the "--enable-kbind" option (not enabled by default since version 2.0.2 and removed from the configure script since version 2.1).

Solution:
Update to version 2.3.31.

Provided and/or discovered by:
Solar Eclipse

Changelog:
2006-12-18: Updated "Solution" section.
