Description: A vulnerability and a security issue have been reported in ASPTicker, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL Injection attacks and disclose sensitive information.
1) Input passed to the "Password" form field parameter in ticker/admin.asp is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation can lead to a malicious person gaining access to the administration section.
2) This security issue is caused due to the "news.mdb" database being stored with insecure permissions inside the web root. This can be exploited to gain knowledge of sensitive information by downloading the file.
These issues are reported in version 1.0. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
Move the database file out of the web root.
