Will Dormann has discovered a vulnerability in ICONICS Gauge ActiveX, ICONICS Switch ActiveX, and ICONICS Vessel ActiveX, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to boundary errors in the Dialog Wrapper Module ActiveX control (DlgWrapper.dll) when handling the "DoModal()" method. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by passing an overly long string as either the FileName or Filter argument.

The vulnerability is confirmed in ICONICS Vessel ActiveX 8.02.140 including DlgWrapper.dll 126.96.36.199. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to DlgWrapper.dll 188.8.131.52 by applying the hotfix:
