Description:
Marsu Pilami has discovered a vulnerability in SmartFTP, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling banner replies of ftp servers. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via an overly long (greater than 4000 bytes) banner sent in reply to the client.

Successful exploitation requires that the user is tricked into connecting to a malicious ftp server.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.0.1002. Other versions may also be affected.
