Description:
Jon Oberheide has reported a vulnerability in libevent, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) of applications using the library.

The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the handling of label pointers in DNS responses. This can be exploited to cause libevent to enter an infinite loop by sending a specially crafted DNS response.

The vulnerability is reported in versions 1.2 through 1.2a. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 1.3 or later.
