Description:
Marsu Pilami has discovered a vulnerability in News Rover, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when processing NZB files. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted NZB file with an overly long (around 2035 bytes) group or subject string.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code but requires that the user is tricked into e.g. opening a malicious NZB file.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 12.1. Other versions may also be affected.
