Description: Umesh Wanve has discovered a vulnerability in XM Easy Personal FTP Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or potentially compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error when displaying server activities in the "Server log" display. This can be exploited to crash the service or potentially allow execution of arbitrary code via a specially crafted command containing format specifiers sent to the server.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 5.3.0. Other versions may also be affected.
NOTE: Multiple buffer overflows in various commands have also been reported.
