Description

A vulnerability has been reported in Asterisk, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerability is caused due to an error within the handling of certain SIP INVITE messages. This can be exploited to crash the server by sending a SIP INVITE message with 2 SDP headers, where the second header contains an invalid IP address.

Successful exploitation requires that the callee is an invalid dailplan or user.

The vulnerability is reported in versions 1.2.14, 1.2.15, 1.2.16, and 1.4.1. Prior versions may also be affected.


Solution
Update to versions 1.4.2 or 1.2.17.
