Description

Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in chCounter, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL injection attacks and by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting or SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "login_name" parameter in stats/index.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to a user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

Successful exploitation requires that the target user is not logged in.

2) Input passed to the "login_name" parameter in stats/index.php and administration/index.php is not properly sanitised before being used in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation allows bypassing the authentication mechanism, but requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

3) Input passed via the URL to counter.php is not properly sanitised before being used in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

NOTE: This vulnerability can further be exploited to conduct script insertion attacks via SQL error messages.

4) Input passed via the "anzahl" parameter to administration/index.php (when "cat" is set to "downloads" and "edit" is set) is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

NOTE: This vulnerability can further be exploited to conduct cross-site scripting attacks via SQL error messages.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires access to the Admin Control Panel.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 3.1.3. Other versions may also be affected.
