| CVE reference: | CVE-2007-2194
|
|
Description: Marsu has discovered a vulnerability in XnView, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the handling of XPM files. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially-crafted XPM file with an overly long (greater than 1024 bytes) section string.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.90.3. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Windows users should update to version 1.91. There is no fixed version for other operating systems.
