Marsu has discovered a vulnerability in PhotoFiltre Studio, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling TIF files and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted TIF file.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 8.1.1 and 10.3.1 and is also reported in version 9.2.2. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Do not open untrusted TIF files.
