Solution:
Reportedly, Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-027 sets the kill-bit for this ActiveX control. A patched version is also available from the vendor.

NOTE: The vendor recommends to install Microsoft security updates MS09-037 and MS09-060 for further protection against the issue.
