A vulnerability has been reported in BlockHosts, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the parsing of log files before adding an entry with a deny flag in /etc/hosts.allow. This can be exploited to add arbitrary IP addresses with a deny flag to /etc/hosts.allow resulting in a DoS for that IP.

This is related to:
SA23236

The vulnerability is reported in version 2.0.3. Other versions may also be affected


Solution:
Edit the regular expressions to ensure that log files are parsed properly.
