rgod has discovered some vulnerabilities in Ademco ATNBaseLoader100 Module ActiveX control, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors within the Ademco ATNBaseLoader100 Module (ATNBaseLoader100.dll) ActiveX control when handling certain methods, e.g. "Send485CMD()", "SetLoginID()", and "AddSite()". These can be exploited to cause stack-based buffer overflows by passing overly long arguments to the affected methods.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 188.8.131.52. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
