|
|
Description: agentsteal has reported a vulnerability and a weakness in cPanel, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks or to disclose system information.
1) Input passed in the URL to scgiwrap (Simple CGI Wrapper) is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
2) Calling scgiwrap (Simple CGI Wrapper) directly will disclose the full path to the application.
The vulnerability and the weakness are reported in versions prior to 11.4.19-R14378 on the RELEASE and CURRENT branch as well as prior to 10.9.1 on the STABLE branch.
Solution: Update to version 10.9.1 or 11.4.19-R14378.
Provided and/or discovered by: agentsteal
Changelog: 2007-06-25: Added CVE reference.
