|
Description: Gentoo has issued an update for glibc. This fixes a potential vulnerability, which may be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.
The problem is caused due to an integer overflow within the dynamic loader when processing the hardware capabilities mask.
Note: Successful exploitation may potentially allow execution of arbitrary code with escalated privileges, but has not been proven.
Solution: All sys-libs/glibc users should update to "sys-libs/glibc-2.5-r4" or later.
Provided and/or discovered by: Tavis Ormandy, Gentoo Linux Security Audit Team.
