Description:
Sun has acknowledged a vulnerability in Solaris, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerability affects Solaris 8, 9, and 10 for both the SPARC and x86 platforms. Solaris 9 optionally has JDS release 2 for the x86 platform.

Solution:
Apply patches.

Solaris 8:
Apply patch 114816-03 or later.

Solaris 9:
Apply patch 139382-01 or later and 114822-05 or later.

Solaris 10:
Apply patch 137080-01 or later.


-- x86 Platform --

Solaris 8:
Apply patch 114817-03 or later.

Solaris 9:
Apply patch 139382-01 or later.

Solaris 10:
Apply patch 137081-01 or later.

The vendor recommends loading only images from trusted sources.

A final resolution for Solaris 9 with JDS release 2 is pending completion.
