Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in IBM AIX, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within odm_searchpath() in the libodm library when processing the ODMPATH environment variable. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long ODMPATH variable.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with root privileges.

The vulnerability is reported in versions 5.2.0 and 5.3.0.
