Description:
Krystian Kloskowski has discovered a vulnerability in Visual IRC, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when processing an IRC server's response to a "JOIN" command. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long, specially crafted string in response to the affected command.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code, but requires that a user is e.g. tricked into connecting to a malicious IRC server.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.0. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 2.0pl1.
