Description: A vulnerability has been reported in Asterisk, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to the IAX2 Channel Driver improperly processing "NEW" packets. This can be exploited to allocate resources that are never freed by sending multiple "NEW" packets for valid extensions to the server.
Successful exploitation results in a DoS, but requires that the IAX2 Channel Driver is configured to allow unauthenticated calls.
The vulnerability is reported in the following products:
Asterisk Open Source 1.2.x version 1.2.20, 1.2.21, 1.2.21.1, and 1.2.22
