Windows Graphics Rendering Engine Image Handling Vulnerability

-

Description

A vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Windows, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow in the graphics rendering engine within the "AttemptWrite()" function when parsing Windows metafiles. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by tricking a user into viewing a malicious metafile containing a large record length.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
