Description: Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in Easy Chat Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions or compromise a vulnerable system.
1) The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in EasyChat.exe when processing the "username" parameter sent to the application through "chat.ghp". This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted HTTP request containing an overly long (greater than 256 bytes) "username" parameter.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
2) The application does not properly restrict access to the "registresult.htm" POST action. This can be exploited to create new and modify existing users by posting to the file directly.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.2. Other versions may also be affected.
