|
|
Description: Luigi Auriemma has reported a vulnerability in the Unreal Engine, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the logging function of the Unreal Engine, which can be exploited to crash the server by e.g. sending specially crafted data through the built in web server (port 80, not enabled by default).
It is also reported that it is possible to slow a game server running on a Windows system and annoy the game host by sending bell characters (0x07) to the server.
Solution: Do not enable the built-in web server. Restrict access to trusted persons only.
Provided and/or discovered by: Luigi Auriemma
Changelog: 2007-08-22: Added CVE reference.
