Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in MapServer, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks or to potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Input passed to unspecified parameters is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user via the "processLine()" function in maptemplate.c and the "writeError()" function in mapserv.c. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

2) A boundary error exists in the processing of map files within the "processLine()" function in maptemplate.c. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via overly long (larger than 5120 bytes) names for layers, groups, or metadata entries.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerabilities are reported in versions prior to 4.10.3.
