Description

Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in 2532|Gigs, which can be exploited by malicious users to disclose sensitive information and compromise a vulnerable system, and by malicious people to disclose sensitive information, conduct SQL injection attacks, and compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Input passed to the "language" parameter in "activateuser.php", "settings.php", "deleteuser.php", "mini_calendar.php", "manage_venues.php", and "manage_gigs.php" is not properly verified before being used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources via directory traversal attacks and URL-encoded NULL bytes.

Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities requires that "register_globals" is enabled and that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

2) Input passed to the "username" and "password" parameters in checkuser.php is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

3) Input passed to the "id" parameter in index.php is not properly verified before being used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local or external resources.

4) The backup.php script does not properly restrict access to the database backup functionality. This can be exploited to disclose sensitive information by accessing a specially crafted URL.

5) The "upload_flyers.php" script fails to validate the types of uploaded flyers. This can be exploited to upload files with arbitrary extensions (e.g. ".php") and execute arbitrary PHP code on the server.

6) Input passed to the "content" parameter in "calcss_edit.php" is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary PHP by passing PHP code to the parameter.

Successful exploitation of vulnerabilities #3 and #4 requires valid user credentials, but combined with vulnerability #2 allows to bypass this.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.2.2 (vulnerability #1 is also confirmed in version 1.2.1). Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and verified.
