Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Tk, which can potentially be exploited by malicious people to compromise an application using the library.
1) A vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the "ReadImage()" function in generic/tkImgGIF.c. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow via interlaced GIF files containing multiple smaller frames following the first frame.
2) A vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the "FileReadGIF()" function in generic/tkImgGIF.c. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow via specially crafted GIF files.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities may allow execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerabilities are reported in versions prior to 8.4.16.
Solution: Update to version 8.4.16.
