| CVE reference: | CVE-2007-5227
|
|
Description: Trew has reported some vulnerabilities in BlackBoard Learning System, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks.
Input passed to the "subject_t" and "body_text" parameters in messaging/course/composeMessage.jsp is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which is executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is viewed.
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 6.3.1.593. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Reportedly fixed in Release 6 Application Pack 3 Service Pack 2 Hotfix 3.
The vendor recommends updating to Release 6 Application Pack 3 Service Pack 2 Hotfix 4.
Provided and/or discovered by: Ruben (Trew) Ventura Pina
